Paula Young Lee is a cultural historian, food writer, and backwoods cook. Her most recent books include Deer Hunting in Paris: A Memoir of God, Guns, and Game Meat (2013); The Hunter’s Haunch, a “thinkbook” about venison (forthcoming); and The Birdcage of the Muses: Observing Animals at the 17th-century Ménagerie at Versailles, a scholarly study of food animals and hunting culture in early modern France (forthcoming).
