IUCN Invites Members to Learn More about the Biosphere Ethics Initiative
Global Program, The Biosphere Ethics InitiativeMarch 30th, 2010
IUCN Secretariat, led by Director General Julia Marton-Lèfevre, has taken an active role in the advancement and implementation of the Biosphere Ethics Initiative (BEI). This is one of several key elements of the BEI Action Plan, currently under development, and was a direct result of the formal launch of the project in February at the Paris Nationale muséum d’Histoire naturelle. CHN will be working with the IUCN Secretariat, the IUCN Commission on Environmental Law, the IUCN Comité français and officials from the French government to take the work to the 10th Conference of the Parties of the Convention on Biological Diversity (the CBD is the hard law foundation for the project) in Nagoya, Japan this October. For the IUCN links to the work, please click here; for the CHN project homepage and key documents, please click here.
