North American Global Responsibilities: Cosmopolitan Regionalism
The intertwined destiny of humans and nature on Earth requires individuals and communities to attend to issues and prospects of global ethics. This is particularly true for North Americans, as our environmental and social policies have enormous consequences for the well-being of humans and nature, domestic and foreign. The North American Global Responsibilities program addresses such questions head-on. The goals of this program area are to (1) better understand the dynamic interplay between global, regional, and local scales of humans and nature interactions, (2) develop a constructive perspective on North American responsibilities in the world community, (3) facilitate constructive dialogue on global ethics in key international fora, and (4) advance original research and publication in this area.
