Developing the Capacity for Long-Term Ecological Arts and Reflections

Advancing the Land Ethic

October 25th, 2010

The Advancing the Land Ethic project of the Center for Humans and Nature (CHN) co-hosted with The Aldo Leopold Foundation (ALF) a gathering for furthering development of Long-Term Ecological Arts and Reflections programs on September 26-28, 2010 at the Aldo Leopold Legacy Center in Baraboo, Wisconsin. CHN and ALF brought together ecologists, philosophers, artists, and writers to share and discuss plans to advance the creative interaction around the theme of long-term ecological change and the evolving relationship of humans and nature.

The goal of this program is to bridge the sciences and humanities at the ground level in varied ecosystems.  Growing from efforts at the Andrews Experimental Forest in Oregon, the project aims to identify other key sites  - places where new ways of conceptualizing and communicating ecological change and the human influence on such changes can be fruitfully explored, long-term.
