Curriculum Vitae (pdf) | Contact

Anja Claus is Program Coordinator for the Center for Humans and Nature at the Chicago office. She is currently pursuing her Master of Arts degree in Geography and Environmental Studies while working at the Center. Anja’s interests are focused on preserving the rich, biologically diverse heritage of the Northeastern Illinois natural landscape through the implementation of progressive urban planning methods that give Nature a voice in the decision making processes.
Anja received her B.S. in biology at the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana. After graduating, she worked as a research assistant at the Forshungs Zentrum, Institute of Genetics and Toxicology in Karlsruhe, Germany. There she assisted in the isolation and characterization of bovine T-cells infected with Teleria parva virus. After some detours and self-reflection, she pursued her passion for environmental conservation and started working towards her Master of Arts degree in Geography and Environmental Studies at Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU).
Anja grew up in the City of Chicago where she learned to respect and cherish the native Chicagoland ecosystems including the prairie and wetland remnants of northeastern Illinois.
