Alexandre Poisson
Fellow
Alex Poisson is a Masters student in the Geography Department at McGill University. As a Fellow with CHN, Alex will conduct research on the state of the field of ecological economics and its relationship to an ethics of respect for nature. As he surveys the work in this field, he will furthermore provide analysis and interpretation of this work, resulting in at least two papers to be published in Minding Nature. Alex will do his work in cooperation with Peter Brown, CHN Senior Fellow; and Curt Meine, Director of Conservation Biology and History. It is projected that one paper will build on his research on the state of the field of ecological economics and another paper will build upon research done to draw together an anthology of Leopold’s writings on economics.
About Alexandre
In 2008, Alex completed his undergraduate degree in Environmental sciences at McGill (B.A.-&-Sc.) with a focus on the environmental determinants of human health, and is now midway through his Masters program under Prof. Peter Brown (McGill, Geography, M.Sc.). During his undergraduate years, Alex had the chance to design and conduct a sustainability assessment of McGill University, a fascinating project which led him half-way around the world to Singapore to present some of his results (U21 research conference). He is currently interested in the broad implications of modern thermodynamics for ecological economics and environmental ethics.
